Community Book Drives

The Bookworm is partnering with local community organizations to get books directly to kids. Having books in the home, and in fact having a library of their own, is correlated with increased performance across fields from math, to science, to art, and back to reading (of course). It increases children's ability to empathize, understand and speak to their own feelings and experiences, and even narrows performance gaps between genders and socio-economic status indicators.

Which is just to support what we already know, kids and books should be together.

Our Community Partners:

  • Learning Community South: The Learning Community works with children and families to challenge the opportunity gap through early childhood education, family engagement and more. Find out more here.
  • NorthStar Foundation: NorthStar’s mission is to change young men’s lives through programming that supports, challenges, inspires and instills a life rooted in education, self-discipline and service to the community. Find out more here.
  • Westside Book Brigade: Started as a book-trading pandemic initiative this organization is now a codified part of District 66. It stocks Little Free Libraries in schools across the district and provides books directly to kids.
