About: Mindy Crouch, clinical social worker and certified grief counselor, will share and discuss Understanding Dementia: An Interactive Learn-and-Earn Activity Book. The book, which is geared for children, explores dementia in an easy to digest manner; this event is geared for adults interested in learning about and using the book to help children in their life. She'll be joined in conversation by Michele Magner, dementia practitioner and life coach.

Through a series of activities – journaling, drawing, playing games, and more – your child will walk away from this book with a deeper understanding of what their loved one is going through. They’ll learn helpful tips about what to expect and how to better communicate with their loved one – all to help maintain and cherish the relationship they had before the disease progressed. This book is made up of 12 Learn-and-Earn chapters. Each simplifies and explains a different aspect of dementia – from the early stage to the final stage – and each offers an interactive component that allows your child to learn by doing. As they complete each chapter, they will earn a badge, giving them an added sense of achievement.

Never before has a children’s book about dementia offered such a healthy outlet for your child to express how they’re feeling. It will remind them that every emotion they’re experiencing is normal and that putting those feelings on paper and talking about them is necessary. Plus, after their loved one has passed, this book will act as a memory journal they can treasure forever.
